The incumbent chairman, Martin Roth, will not accompany the construction as head of the association to the end.

Buch am Buchrain

- After a year of Corona break, the Buch am Buchrain fire brigade was able to hold its service and annual general meeting.

There the 35 guests heard both good and bad news.

The latter probably includes the information for most members that Chairman Martin Roth and other members of the Executive Board will no longer stand in the new elections in 2023. The good news: the construction of the new tool shed on St.-Florian-Ring is to start in 2022. Mayor Ferdinand Geisberger announced this in his welcoming address.

According to him, the building permit for the new building was granted in mid-September and construction work is scheduled to start next year. "Of course we really hope that it really works," says fire brigade chief Roth. Now the planning for the project is started again. One of the first steps is a new cost calculation for the multifunctional building, which, according to the earlier plan, should also be used by the horticultural association and for communal purposes. In view of the increased raw material prices, cost savings may have to be made, which, according to the mayor, should not affect the fire brigade, reports Roth.

He regrets that the building will then not be able to be completed during his time as chairman.

In the meeting, Roth announced that he would not run again in the new elections in March 2023.

“I would have loved to hand over the office with the new house,” he says.

For professional reasons, however, he will no longer have enough time to volunteer in the future.

“Another six years would be too long for me,” explains Roth, who has been in charge of the Buch fire brigade since 2011.

According to him, other long-standing board members are still thinking of resigning.

It is fairly certain that the 2nd chairman Tim Maszhold does not want to run again because of his move.

Commander Thomas Steidler provided information about the 2020 operation year. The service had to complete 18 operations, 16 of which were for technical assistance - five fewer than in the previous year. The number of active members rose by one person to 57, eight of whom are in the youth team. The emergency services have an average age of 34.75 years, only ten percent are female. Since some active members recently switched to the fire brigade when they came of age, the youth force currently only consists of a few members, Roth informs. New, interested teenagers from the age of twelve are always welcome. The armed forces have a total of 182 members.

Due to the pandemic, all events have been canceled this year and last year, including the first aid course.

This year only the fire brigade anniversary with church service (November 21st) and on 5th / 6th

December the Saint Nicholas service is terminated.

There are still no plans for 2022 except for the annual general meeting, which is to take place in March.

Roth cannot yet say whether the scheduled Maypole Festival will take place in 2022.

There will soon be talks with the co-organizers of the 2017 Maypole, the Buchner Bixn and the Burschenverein.
