The proportion of electricity from renewable energy sources from Thuringia's industrial power plants has barely increased in the past ten years.
Last year, 65.7 percent of the 798 gigawatt hours of electricity produced in manufacturing and mining operations came from renewable energy sources, as the State Office for Statistics announced in Erfurt on Wednesday.
Erfurt - In the previous ten years, the share had fluctuated between 61.2 percent (2017) and 65.7 percent (2013).
The electricity production in industrial power plants is mainly used for the self-sufficiency of the companies.
The remaining part of the electricity is passed on to other companies or fed into the public grid.
The electricity produced from renewable energies comes mainly from biomethane or solid biomass such as wood.
