The European Union negotiator in charge of talks aimed at relaunching the international Iranian nuclear agreement, Enrique Mora, is due in Tehran on Thursday (October 14th), the Iranian foreign ministry announced.

Iran wants European countries to guarantee respect for the JCPOA, on which talks suspended since June must resume soon, the spokesman already stressed on Monday.

They (the Europeans) must give the Islamic Republic full assurance that, this time, no party will violate the nuclear agreement
," he insisted.

consultations and contacts between the two parties have never been interrupted and are continuing continuously on various issues and this visit will take place in the same framework
."

Concluded in 2015 between Iran on the one hand and the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, France and Germany on the other hand, the agreement offered the Islamic Republic the lifting of 'part of the international sanctions taken against it in exchange for a drastic reduction in its nuclear program, placed under strict UN control.
But after the unilateral withdrawal of the Americans from the agreement in 2018, under the presidency of Donald Trump, and the reinstatement of sanctions, Tehran gradually abandoned its commitments.
For its part, France reiterated Wednesday its call for Iran to return without delay to the negotiating table, believing that this country lacked "
clarity
" on this subject on its intentions.
