Azerbaijan and Iran announced Wednesday (October 13th) that they had agreed to settle
the tensions between the two neighbors
through "
dialogue
", Tehran having attacked in recent weeks the links between Baku and Israel.
Tehran accuses Azerbaijan, despite its denials, of having authorized the presence on its territory of Israeli soldiers on the border with Iran, while the Islamic Republic was carrying out maneuvers there.

Iranian-Azerbaijani relations have also deteriorated due to Baku's decision to impose customs taxes on Iranian trucks in transit to Europe.
"Avoid misunderstandings"
The foreign ministers of the two countries, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian for Iran and Jeyhun Bayramov for Azerbaijan, had a telephone interview on Tuesday evening in an attempt to calm tensions.
"
The parties noted that the recent rhetoric has harmed bilateral relations and that any dispute should be settled through dialogue,
" Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. The Iranian ministry told him that Tehran and Baku "
should avoid misunderstandings and improve their relations
", while respecting "
the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries
". "
Tehran and Baku have enemies and the two sides should not give them the opportunity to disrupt their relations,
" insisted Hossein Amir-Abdullahian.
Azerbaijan and Iran have traditionally good relations, but they have deteriorated against the background of growing ties between Baku and Israel, Tehran's nemesis and one of the main arms suppliers to the Azerbaijani army.
