Homs Sugar Company has achieved profits of 800 million pounds since the beginning of this year and the end of the ninth month, with an increase of more than 500 million pounds over the corresponding period of last year, which is the result of its sales of yeast, alcohol, cotton oil, soap and secondary materials “carbon gas.”

And Eng. Abdo Al-Mahmoud, General Manager of the company, said in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the value of the company’s sales during the past nine months of this year amounted to 9 billion and 221 million pounds, an increase of about four billion over the same period last year, indicating that the sales included the sale of 385 tons of Medical alcohol, 42 tons of industrial alcohol, 49 tons of carbon gas, 4,428 tons of soft yeast, 358 tons of refined cotton oil and 141 tons of soap.

On the reality of the company’s laboratories and their technical and production status, Al-Mahmoud explained that the sugar factory is suspended due to the lack of the raw material involved in production, which is raw red sugar, while the yeast factory is working at its full production capacity to cover the needs of the governorates of Homs, Tartous, Lattakia and Hama of soft yeast, and currently the factory is supplying the martyrs’ bakery in Aleppo He needs yeast.

Al-Mahmoud pointed out that the production of the alcohol factory is linked to the demand for the substance and works according to the urgent need for medical alcohol, especially in light of the outbreak of the Corona virus and the increased demand for alcohol as a sterile material, while the production of the soap factory is linked to the operation of the oil factory and the extent to which economic feasibility is achieved from it, pointing out that the oil factory is currently suspended after that The production of 2502 tons of cotton seeds supplied by the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing was completed, resulting in 358 tons of refined cotton oil.

Al-Mahmoud pointed out that the company is working to benefit from all the production capacities of the company, so we are working to continue the work of the oil plant and prevent it from stopping after the completion of manufacturing cotton seeds by announcing the era and manufacturing of cotton seeds or sunflower oil for a fee for the benefit of others according to a specific technical terms book for this purpose, pointing out It is also announced on a continuous basis to purchase quantities of raw sugar and operate for the benefit of others.

Al-Mahmoud explained that the company spent 410 million pounds on the projects of its investment plan aimed at developing laboratories, as the supply, installation and operation of a cooling group for cream through ice water in the yeast factory, with a capacity of about 100,000 kilocalories, at a cost of 137 million pounds, in addition to the supply and installation of six medical alcohol filling machines. Multiple heads of sizes starting from 100 mm and up to 1000 mm with a printer machine at a cost of 169 million liras. A screw air compressor set for precision devices was also installed at a cost of about 104 million liras.

It is noteworthy that the Homs Sugar Company includes four factories: sugar, yeast, alcohol and oil, in addition to the soap production department.
