A day after Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern withdrew from the race to head the Jewish Agency following his part in the storm of crushing complaints, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid today (Wednesday) asked the agency to postpone the date - "so we can choose a new candidate to be agreed on."
"In the shadow of recent events, I would ask you to consider postponing the date of the election for the position of chairman, so that we can choose a new candidate to be agreed to the position," Lapid wrote in a letter to the heads of the agency.
"We would greatly appreciate it if you would give us the extra time so that we can nominate the best candidate for the job, as we attach great importance to the agency."
