In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the formation of a red-red state government is on the way.
As SPIEGEL has been confirmed from negotiating circles, the Social Democrats and the Left Party have agreed on a government alliance.
The CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has already announced in a press release that it is preparing to work in the opposition, as the country is to be governed by a left-wing alliance in the future.
“The results of the probing are not really surprising.
Even before the election it was clear that the SPD had little interest in continuing the coalition, "the interim chairman of the CDU in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Eckhardt Rehberg, is quoted in the statement.
The SPD had clearly won the state election with almost 40 percent of the vote, the CDU had fallen to 13 percent.
The left came up with 9.9 percent.
For 15 years, the SPD had led the government in the northeast in a red-black coalition.
From 1998 to 2006 the SPD had already ruled in the northeast together with the PDS / Die Linke as a junior partner.
