Money for Farchant's playgrounds: scramble and dig, just don't slide

A solution is only needed for the dismantled stainless steel slide on Spielleitenweg.

Farchant

- A few years ago it was a dirt cheap offer that the Farchant community didn't want to miss.

For little money she bought a used slide that was previously in a swimming pool.

This should add another attraction to the playground on Spielleitenweg.

But then summer came and with it a worry.

It got hot.

Problematic hot.

The stainless steel slide stood in the blazing sun for hours every day and heated up so much that it was downright "dangerous" for children, said Mayor Christian Hornsteiner (CSU) at the municipal council meeting.

To prevent injuries, the device was dismantled a few years ago.

Old stainless steel slide got dangerously hot for the kids on sunny days

But the municipality wants to offer the children a slide on the playground. At the joint meeting of the Farchanter associations, money from the social fund was even pledged for it. That is why the community asked a manufacturer of playground equipment whether there was a variant that could still be used in the place without shadow - without getting burned. One made of plastic, for example. But there was bad news. “There aren't any in the length we'd need,” says Hornsteiner. The committee therefore decided to postpone the topic and calmly discuss which alternative play equipment would be possible.

There will soon be two new attractions elsewhere, including at the primary school.

The community has a play tower built in the north courtyard.

The square is an addition to the Gaudi area on the south side.

In the north, among other things, the 40 to 50 children from lunchtime care can frolic around without disturbing students during class, as has been the case on the south side so far.

The tower costs 20,820 euros with transport, assembly and mats.

Up until now, children could only play football on the meadow.

"In future we will also have an offer for everyone else," said Vice Mayor Johann Schmid (CSU), who is very supportive of the project.

Children and young people should only romp around the play tower during school hours

Group colleague Hannes Porer sees it a little more critically. “Do you really need that in addition?” He asked the group. Porer fears that the play tower will also attract children and young people outside of school hours and on weekends and cause noise. "I can't really get excited about it." But Hornsteiner assured that the new play equipment was only used during school days. Supervisors monitor the place, the teachers during the breaks. "I see the new acquisition as necessary," said Anton Klöck (CSU). Because currently girls and boys are sometimes even using the emergency stairs to climb due to the lack of alternatives. And with around 50 children, a piece of play equipment would “calm things down”. Twelve councils approved the new tower, two rejected it.

The children at the playground on Zugspitzstrasse will be delighted with the second new acquisition.

Farchant has copied here in the Ammertal.

A sandpit with awning, which also functions as a cover over night in summer, is purchased for around 3000 euros.

"In Oberammergau," said Hornsteiner, "they have had very good experiences with it."
