Germering - “The UFO has landed.” What Jürgen Niehus as a member of the project team expresses in an emotional or striking way cannot be overlooked - and also a sign that the Kreuzlinger Forst tennis club is looking to the future. The new air dome including the two prominently affixed club logos is officially opened. The construction makes gaming operations more flexible even in winter.
The almost
500 tennis enthusiasts can
now also train without interruption in the cold months. Important because the TC has increased its members despite the corona pandemic. "About 100", states the chairman Dominik Hirsch. The youngest member is currently three years old, the oldest 82. Which also triggered recognition from Mayor Haas. “That is quite surprising in these times,” stated the mayor.
Not only the tennis community of TC Kreuzlinger Feld will benefit from the air dome.
Over 160 children and young people aged three and over take part in tennis training and the club's ball school.
A camp will also be offered again during the autumn break.
On some less frequented weekends, the new game and training facility is used for tournaments and games of the tennis association's winter point game.
For example, the TC will in future host one of the largest youth tournaments in Bavaria in winter together with its neighbors TC Eichenau and TC Puchheim.
The hall will also be available to clubs from neighboring municipalities, for example TSV Alling.
Costs exceed half a million euros
The association has taken around 550,000 euros
for this, of which the city has taken on around 100,000 euros through funding.
Mayor Haas paid great respect to the club members at the inauguration on Friday evening.
"Hats off," he said.
This took place in an official opening ceremony, which was kept small in terms of scope.
It was reserved for members who were particularly committed to the project.
First and foremost, Haas named TC chairman Dominik Hirsch.
"Respect also for the fact that the whole family was involved and contributed." That is not a matter of course.
Just as little the broad approval within the association's members when it came to the basic approval.
It helps, however, Germering as a
sport and tennis-friendly city
to represent, so the Lord Mayor.
Hirsch himself spoke of an intense year and a half. That was the time between the initial planning and the completion of the 52.7 by 36.4 meter hall, which has an interior height of eleven meters. The hall is used between the end of September and the beginning of April. It stands on the sand courts in the south of the site, which can be played on normally again in summer.
The hall shell is of safety and technology forth on the
modern state
.
It consists of two membranes with around 37 centimeters of air space and thus has the best insulation currently available.
For the good climate in the hall, air is constantly blown in, which is tempered if necessary and ensures that the hall stands due to the resulting overpressure.
It would take about an hour for the hall to collapse completely, explains Hirsch.
To be on the safe side, however, an emergency power supply and a replacement fan are kept available.
