No more free corona tests: City of Nuremberg feels a massive increase in the vaccination rate

The number of corona tests carried out in the Nuremberg test centers has fallen sharply since Monday. At the same time, the vaccination rate has increased significantly.

The number of corona tests carried out in the Nuremberg test centers has fallen sharply since Monday.

At the same time, the vaccination rate has increased significantly.

Nuremberg - The number of corona antigen rapid tests carried out has fallen massively in Nuremberg * since Monday (October 11), the first paid day.

On Friday and Saturday, 500 to 600 people per branch took part in a test in the private test centers at the main train station and in Färberstrasse.

Only 150 tests were carried out on Monday, as operator Yusuf Aslan reported in an interview with

Nordbayern.de

 .

Nuremberg: The number of corona tests carried out is falling

The falling test numbers are most likely due to the fact that the price for a rapid antigen test * is 20 euros, the site reports.

People who have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus * now have to bear the costs themselves.

Free tests are still available for certain groups of people.

But the numerous exemptions that the federal and state governments have decided are causing confusion among testers.

Nuremberg: Confusion about new corona test regulations

“The legal texts are extremely complicated,” explains Philipp Bornschlegl, specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine and employee at the Nuremberg Health Department,

Nordbayern.de

. He gets a lot of inquiries from testers who are unsure whether certain people are entitled to a free test. But even the health department does not always know an answer to this immediately and often has to check itself to see when and for whom which exception applies. There is a different regulation for each test facility. It is therefore essential to distinguish between privately operated test centers on the one hand and urban test stations, test facilities of aid organizations, medical practices or pharmacies on the other. For example, contact persons of infected people in private test centers do not get a free test, but they do in all other facilities. And people who have symptoms of Covid 19 disease can only get tested free of charge by their family doctor, for example.

Nuremberg: plan longer waiting times at corona test sites

The new regulations represented an enormous challenge for the test personnel, emphasized Aslan in a further conversation with

nordbayern.de

.

Longer waiting times in particular are the result.

“Many customers also discussed or tried to find loopholes,” he says.

Quite a few people would have no proof at all that they could be tested free of charge.

For example, they lack a maternity card or a medical document that certifies that they are not vaccinable.

According to Aslan, the coming weeks will show whether the private test sites will continue to finance themselves.

If the number of tests is low, the facilities are no longer profitable.

Nuremberg: Rising vaccination rate because tests are no longer free

The fact that most of the corona certificates are no longer free of charge could be the reason why the number of corona vaccinations in Nuremberg has recently "increased significantly", as Bornschlegl from the Nuremberg health department

 reports,

according to

Nordbayern.de

.

A significant increase can be seen, especially among younger people.

Last weekend (October 9-10) alone, more than 1,600 vaccinations were administered in the city.
