An 18-year-old driver was seriously injured in a failed overtaking maneuver in Faulenrost (Mecklenburg Lake District).
The novice driver wanted to overtake a slow-moving motorcade on a country road on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.
The cars had slowed down because a tractor was about to turn left onto a dirt road ahead of them.
Rotten rust - The 18-year-old did not see this and, while overtaking, crashed his car head-on into the front axle of the tractor, as it was called.
In the collision, the young man was seriously injured and had to be freed from the car by the fire brigade.
A rescue helicopter took him to a hospital.

The young people had left their lane with their car on a country road and collided head-on with a truck in oncoming traffic.

During the operation, the country road was completely closed for an hour and a half.
