Now there is also a rumble in Diessen

2021-10-13T14:21:54.987Z

Dießen - Not only Schondorfer and Uttinger groan because of excessive traffic, speed limiters in the local area, noise and exhaust emissions, the lack of pedestrian traffic lights or cycle paths. There is also a lot to improve in terms of traffic in Diessen. Local councilor and mobility officer Gabriele Übler (Greens) presented a collection of topics to the committee, in which the senior citizens' advisory board was also involved in addition to the committee community (BP, UBV and Die PARTEI). It should be the basis for a traffic show in which the Weilheim State Building Authority, which is responsible for the state roads, the Landsberg District Office and the Dießen Police Inspectorate will take part.

Of the 15 suggestions for improvement presented, two thirds fell through straight away, also because some of them had already been rejected as impractical in earlier meetings. For example, the reduction in parking spaces in front of the Hofpfisterei in Prinz-Ludwig-Straße or a pedestrian traffic light in Herrenstraße at the level of Schützenstraße. A provisional traffic light was set up here in 2017, but it did not reach the required number of crossings even at peak hours. A speed reduction in the section of Weilheimer Straße at the exit or entrance to the village opposite Schacky-Park was also not heard.

The "Zweckverband Kommunale Verkehrssicherheit Oberland" is responsible for speed controls. With its mobile system that flashes in both directions, it is increasingly on the move both when entering the town from the direction of Riederau and when exiting the direction of Fischen. With a view to the narrow and partly hanging road situation of the elongated curve between Dettenhofen and Obermühlhausen, a speed reduction from 100 to 70 km / h was proposed, but rejected by the building committee.

However, the proposal by the senior citizens' council to extend the 30 km / h zone in Herrenstrasse and Hofmark to Johann-Michael-Fischer-Strasse or even to Netto-Markt on Fritz-Winter-Strasse was heard.

Schools, narrow sidewalks, bus stops and a lot of traffic would create a confusing street situation here.

The administration will now check whether this extension of the 30 zone is possible.

Promising is the proposal of the committee to install a pedestrian traffic light "to be fetched" as a crossing aid for pedestrians and cyclists in Johannisstrasse at the level of Kapellenweg, Tiefenbachstrasse or Krankenhausstrasse.

This would make the way from the lake, the train station and the fishery towards the upper village and back much safer, especially for school children.

For years, Riederauer and visitors to the lido have been demanding pedestrian traffic lights at the confusing curve at the train station. It is particularly dangerous to cross from the parking lot above in the direction of the train station or the lake. Because of the curve situation, no traffic lights are possible here, according to local councilor Franz Sanktjohanser, but it is possible on Seiboldstrasse at the level of Gartenstrasse. The building committee recommended the examination by the administration and the state building authority. The proposal also comes up to cross Weilheimer Straße in the direction of the cycle path to Raisting. Particularly in the main season, dangerous situations arise here when groups of cyclists scurry across the street between the cars, which are usually too fast.

Despite possible remedies for the problems in Dießen, Utting and Schondorf, the volume of traffic on the west bank of the Ammersee will not decrease.

Commuters and families from distant districts are dependent on cars and often a second car, also because of the limited public transport.

Well-intentioned ridesharing bankers or the promotion of cargo e-bikes are of little help.

The number of 82,970 registered cars and 11,878 motorcycles in the Landsberg district with 121,000 inhabitants speaks volumes (as of January 1, 2021).

Almost 68 percent of all citizens have a car. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the Landsberg district has a top position nationwide in terms of car density.
