Russia's National Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev stressed today that NATO is intensively developing its offensive cyber capabilities using electronic technologies, including artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the opening of the 17th meeting of heads of security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS countries, Patrushev was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying: “NATO countries are intensively working on developing their offensive information capabilities, including developing artificial intelligence techniques, implementing the concept of proactive cyber defense and creating specialized coalition formations. It is designed to carry out offensive operations via the Internet.”

Patrushev pointed out that such activities require the CIS countries to pay attention and constant monitoring and to show proportionate responses in the required time.
