Moscow-Sana
Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned against the attempt of terrorists from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan to destabilize the situation in the CIS countries.
Russia Today quoted Putin as saying: It is important to constantly monitor the situation on the Afghan border and prepare to confront terrorists, calling on what he described as “law enforcement and security bodies” to coordinate their work and, if necessary, conduct joint special operations.
Putin said that the potential emerging threats to Central Asia, the Caucasus and other regions were discussed in detail at the Summits of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization last September, and we will also consider this issue at the upcoming CIS summit.
Putin also described the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US forces as difficult, which is complicated only by the actions of groups from the terrorist organization "ISIS".
The Taliban movement captured the Afghan capital, Kabul, on August 15, after seizing large areas of the country in recent months, after the US administration announced its intention to withdraw its forces after twenty years of military intervention that led to chaos and instability in this country.
