The playground for middle school students at the Christian Morgenstern School in Herrsching is being redesigned.
The building committee recommended on Monday that the local council should take about 400,000 euros into their hands for this next year.
Planner Lothar Köppel urged quick decisions so that the desolate outdoor area can be rebuilt in the next summer vacation.

- A renovation is overdue, said Claudia von Hirschfeld (BGH). The councilor's daughter recently attended elementary school on Martinsweg, so the mother is familiar with the conditions in the playgrounds. The school management approached the community last year with the request to renovate the outdoor facilities of the middle school. The outdoor area of the primary school also leaves a lot to be desired. Both are still as they were when the school was built in the 1980s. Environment officer Franziska Kalz contacted the landscape architecture office Köppel in Mühldorf am Inn. Its good reputation in terms of school yard renovations extends far beyond Bavaria.
Köppel came to Herrsching on Monday to present his ideas together with Franziska Kalz. The inventory itself was devastating. Fences are broken, paths are bumpy and dangerous for accidents, the all-weather place is worn out. The seating arena is also no longer worth its name. Sometimes only frayed wooden stumps protruded from the ground. Köppel's office made 55 suggestions for improvements and changes. What was left after consultation with the school management, he presented to the building committee "according to the motto, spinning is allowed". But then he was surprised that the committee was enthusiastic about all “spinning mills”. Claudia von Hirschfeld and Mayor Christian Schiller found a good argument for this: the comparability of schools. A community that receives a new, ultra-modern high school and does not save money in the process,shouldn't be stingy at the other educational institutions in town either.
Köppel called his proposal a "function plan" that could be worked through gradually. Starting with the all-weather site, which is to be refurbished anyway. That would offer a good opportunity to also install a 50-meter running track that is suitable for athletics. The long jump facility must also be renewed and should be moved to the right side in the future. Incidentally, Köppel based himself on the rating environmental school, as which the Christian Morgenstern School is certified. "Then we should stick to it, too," he said. In the planning, therefore, predominantly natural materials are used - whether in the seating arena, which should also be used as an open-air cinema, or in the climbing forest, which he would like to install between the trees. A material path is also planned, as well as a boulder wall,to offer exercise, but also quiet or retreat areas. Part of the school garden fell victim to the planning, but the one that is currently only meadow. But, he emphasized, there are opportunities for savings everywhere, the planning is "very soft". Franziska Kalz also referred to funding opportunities that are within the realm of the possible - through the Free State, the Environmental Foundation, German Environmental Aid or Leader.German environmental aid or Leader.German environmental aid or Leader.
However, the members of the building committee did not want to change anything.
They recommended putting the cost of the full proposal in the 2022 budget.
Preferably for the elementary school sector as well, but that would be as expensive and would have to be designed by Köppel first.
