Review 'Motorola Edge 20': a lightweight phone with a large and powerful screen

2021-10-13T20:57:08.415Z

Everything you need to know about the cameras, screen and price of this Motorola device before buying it.

A few weeks ago we told you about the Motorola Edge 20 Lite and what it offers in exchange for a lower price.

Today we bring the review of the Motorola Edge 20, a striking device for its design, thin and extremely light, although this has the cost of cutting back on other functions.

At CNN Underscored in Spanish we had the opportunity to test the equipment for a couple of weeks and this was our experience:

Characteristics Motorola Edge 20

This phone is for someone who gives a lot of weight to design because its section of cameras and screen are what stands out the most at a first glance.

What you need to know

  • 6.7 inch OLED Full HD display

  • Snapdragon 778 processor

  • 32 MP front camera and 108 MP rear;

8MP tele and 16 MP Macro.

  • 4,000 mAh battery with fast charge

  • 8 RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage

However, being so light and thin comes at a cost.

It lacks a headphone jack and we expected a higher battery capacity, which are points that put it at a slight disadvantage against its direct competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy A52 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro.

  • Nintendo Switch OLED is now available: all its improvements and where to buy it

The screen, the great success

The screen of this Motorola has Full HD + resolution which gives a great result by increasing the refresh rate to 144 Hz from 90 Hz, a rate that significantly exceeds that of the new iPhone and the Galaxy S21 and that results in a screen fluid.

This offers a very real experience when watching multimedia content and using the device every day.

A refresh rate talks about how many times in a second the screen can update itself, and the frequency promised here is smooth and fast.

  • Meet and set aside Amazon's Echo Buds headphones with built-in Alexa

The Motorola Edge 20 panel convinced me and its brightness level is spectacular, well calibrated even in low light situations and it has good viewing angles.

Price and where to buy the phone

Here you can buy the Motorola Edge 20 in black and white on Amazon:

  • Motorola Edge 20 black color -

     USD $ 665 and

     MX $ 10,999

  • Motorola Edge 20 color white-

     Not available and

     MX $ 10,994

The cameras of the Motorola Edge 20

The camera module stands out although not excessively, being very well integrated into the body of the phone.

The phone features a triple camera with a 108 megapixel main sensor, an 8 MP telephoto lens, and a 16 MP ultra-wide angle lens.

The camera for

selfies

embedded in the screen is 32 megapixels.

These are some of the photographs we took with this Motorola equipment:

Three photo modes:

In landscape photos it has a greater definition and range than the Motorola Edge 20 Lite.

You can read the review here.

When you use a lot of zoom, even in good lighting conditions, objects do lose definition at their edges:

In this first image there is no zoom and in the second we get closer to one of the flowers.

The Portrait Mode is one of the ones I liked the most because it focuses very well on the subject in the foreground.
