It was imperative to hurry: The TÜV found massive defects in the large slides in the wave crest.

The congregation had to react immediately.

Oberammergau - The deadline is over. At the end of September, the time for applicants to submit their concepts for the Oberammergau wave mountain ran out. The community lawyer has since checked the offers. Mayor Andreas Rödl (CSU) is not yet allowed to say more details. But that means: There are suggested solutions for the deficient bathroom. On Wednesday (October 13th), so much the town hall chief reveals, the result of the tender will be presented to the local council in the non-public meeting.

But it will take some time before things get really serious when it comes to investor matters.

Especially since the community seeks a request for advice.

All dreams of the future.

The municipality is currently struggling with problems with ongoing operations.

The slide area had to be closed, extensive repair work has been underway since the end of September, which Vice Mayor Eugen Huber initiated by urgent order.

And they cost.

TÜV called for a redevelopment concept

The TÜV had been in the house.

The auditors found serious deficiencies.

“There was a risk that we would have had to close the slide area on January 1st,” Huber described (with a sense of proportion) in the finance committee the seriousness of the situation.

The TÜV demanded that a redevelopment concept be drawn up and the necessary measures implemented.

In the aftermath of the visit, Huber admitted that there were even more significant quirks.

There are many nooks and crannies.

From the joints and brackets to the plexiglass cover and the surfaces.

“There are also no screws,” says Rödl when asked by the daily newspaper.

"It will be a full general renovation."

The necessary steps were agreed at an appointment with TÜV and the slide company.

The offer - without taking into account the additional defects discovered - is around 25,000 euros (net).

City hall manager Christian Ostler told the committee about 30,000 euros including ancillary costs.

Another 10,000 euros will probably come on top.

The funds are available in the budget for 2021.

We will keep the wave crest as long as possible.

Mayor Andreas Rödl

Immediate action was required. In order to be able to guarantee the work this year, the company Wasserrutschen Maintenance Service Böhm had to be commissioned immediately. Normally, the finance committee or local council has to decide on this. But it took too long until the next meeting, which is why Huber initiated the urgent order. “That had to be decided really quickly,” Huber justified the procedure.

The second town hall chief did not receive any criticism.

Instead, Rödl expressly emphasized that he was behind the decision of his deputy.

Although a closure would have saved enormous energy and personnel costs.

Which proves one thing for the mayor: "This refutes the subliminal assumption that we are against the preservation of the wave mountain."

He also spoke briefly at the meeting.

Rödl did not leave him uncommented.

"We will keep the wave peak as long as we can - as the tender and the search for investors allow."
