Kreuth - The buildings in Wildbad Kreuth are to receive ensemble protection for more monument protection.

That was decided by the Kreuth local council.

The municipal council recently dealt with ensemble protection for Wildbad Kreuth.

Parts of the buildings are already under monument protection.

Now comes the big hit.

Kreuth's mayor Josef Bierschneider put the topic up for discussion at the meeting.

In order to include Wildbad Kreuth in the list of ensemble protection under monument law, a positive statement from the community is necessary, he explained.

The council members present were quickly convinced.

Martin Walch (SPD) asked which buildings this affected, as there have been repeated additions and conversions on the area in Wildbad Kreuth over time and some of the buildings are currently not listed.

For these, too, there is more protection, explained Josef Bierschneider.

Elisabeth Hartwig (CSU) called the proposal welcome.

In the end, the local council voted unanimously for it.

“The advantage of ensemble protection compared to monument protection is that not only individual buildings or parts of the building are protected, but the ensemble as a whole - including, for example, the buildings and open spaces that have not been listed so far,” says district architect Christian Boiger, explaining the advantage of the Ensemble protection.

According to the list of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the buildings Wildbad Kreuth 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 are under monument protection.

These include:

  • New bathroom, two classicist two-storey hipped roof tracts connected by a short intermediate building with strongly projecting central projections and a hall building with ballroom and foyer connected to the north, built by Simon Mayr for King Max I Joseph., 1820 to 25

  • to the south-west of the so-called royal house, two-storey classicist hipped roof building with a cornice by Simon Mayr, 1825

  • west of the so-called post office, two-story simple hipped roof building by Simon Mayr, 1825

  • north of the Ökonomiehof grouped around an inner courtyard on four sides, 1825

  • Hohlenstein-Badleite

  • Heilig Kreuz chapel, narrow baroque hall building with semicircular choir and onion roof turret, consecrated in 1707, with furnishings

  • Connected to the south is the so-called old bath house, formerly a beneficiary's house, flat-gable roof building with upper floor log construction and arbors, 1706

  • East of the so-called Schusterhäusl, formerly a craftsman's house, small two-story steep saddle roof building, probably early 19th century

  • Fountain, two classicist stone trough fountains, 19th century, by the chapel and the bathhouse

  • Monument to King Max I Joseph, semicircular stone figure niche with ore bust and relief based on a design by Jean-Baptiste Métivier, 1828, cast by Johann Baptist Stiglmaier
