An unmanned flying device allows them to bring water and food, waiting for the authorities of La Palma to rescue them because the magma has cut off the accesses.

The lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma has trapped a group of dogs, who are being monitored and fed daily by a drone waiting for local authorities to rescue them.

The animals were blocked in a pond located in Todoque, one of the towns most affected by the eruption of the volcano, as explained in a statement by the Cabildo of the Canary Island.

They were located five days ago, but the lava rivers keep accesses cut off and the emergency services cannot act either due to

the high temperatures in the area

Technology has offered a temporary solution to ensure the well-being of dogs.

The local companies Volcanic Life and Ticom Soluciones SL feed them with a drone, which

transports water and food several times a day

.

The volcano has not stopped spitting lava since it erupted on September 19 and

keeps the entire island on alert

.

Another 800 residents had to be evacuated on Tuesday due to the advance of one of the lava flows, which threatens their homes.

In total, some 6,800 people have been evicted from their homes and

nearly 1,460 structures were destroyed by the magma

.

The seismic activity has not been interrupted either.

This Wednesday a quake of magnitude 4.4 was registered 25 miles deep,

the most powerful linked to the eruption.

About 1,600 acres are covered by lava, which is equivalent to 8% of the island's territory, according to Copernicus, the European Union's Earth observation program.
