Munich - A “crazy idea” became a food blog, which is followed by almost 14,000 users on Instagram.

For four years, “aufdiefaust” has been providing Munich residents with interesting insights into the gastro scene.

“The icing on the cake with an authentic concept” is what the maker Fernando Gonzalez (29) is particularly fond of.

The native Mexican has lived in the Isar metropolis * for 21 years and also explores current food trends on his travels abroad.

In the interview, Gonzalez talks about his recipe for success and reveals three shops that every Munich resident should know.

Current food trends in Munich: Interview with the “aufdiefaust” maker

Instagram users who upload photos of their meals are a dime a dozen.

How do you create a unique selling point as a food blogger?

Fernando Gonzalez

: With the way I present the food, I actually adopted a 'signature move'.

In about 80 percent of the photos you can see how the food lies on the hand or fist.

In addition, I am very close to the scene, befriended many restaurateurs.

So of course you get a lot.

Not every shop lends itself to an "aufdiefaust" contribution ...

It is very important to me to give the little icing on the cake a platform with an authentic concept.

When I notice that there is a lot of heart and soul in it, I am just happy.

Hype the hundredth sushi shop with dry ice doesn't suit me - even if what people are doing is definitely not bad.

Time and again, your followers will also be provided with food content when they travel abroad.

How do you get to the contact points?

It usually starts with a very banal Instagram survey: Who can give me tips for the respective destination?

Then it is often the case that friends of mine have only recently been to the city in question.

I also get inspiration from recommendations from books.

That is a very classic research.

"It works here too, you just have to trust yourself"

How do you experience the current gastronomic development in Munich?

The city is in motion and a lot is happening right now.

Small restaurants with authentic cuisine show that it is possible here too, you just have to dare.

There is a lot of solidarity within the scene.

What are the hurdles?

First and foremost, of course, are the rental prices.

This is not easy for many operators.

You are more likely to play it safe in order to stay afloat - instead of maybe implementing a concept that is a little more daring.

How can Munich residents, especially during Corona * times, boost local gastronomy?

My appeal: support the small shops!

It doesn't hurt to leave good reviews.

So you can support the snack on the corner in a very simple way.

Many tend to only give reviews after experiencing something negative.

Munich: Foodblogger reveals three gastro projects that everyone should know

Three shops that every Munich resident should know: which ones would you choose?

I definitely recommend a visit to

Caspar Plautz

at the Viktualienmarkt.

Especially on Wednesdays when the KdW (“Potato of the Week”) is presented there.

Then the

Royal Healthy Slices

comes to

mind.

This is a Greek-Georgian window sale on Hohenzollernplatz.

It is run by a family that places great emphasis on hospitality and serves incredibly good food.

Last but not least,

Café Schmalznudel

: no matter how many donut shops open, Munich residents will always enjoy a simple larded noodle.
