If the fierce winds between Tehran and Baku that led to tensions between Iran and Turkey were not enough, today (Wednesday) it was revealed that the Turkish intelligence agency (MİT) and police forces captured eight agents, two of them Iranians and six Turks planning a kidnapping.
According to reports in Turkey, the two Iranians tried to create a unit with a budget of $ 30,000, aimed at kidnapping a former Iranian soldier, named MA, from Iran's border province with Tehran.
The capture of the unit members took place on September 24 and its success was announced only today, possibly with the aim of embarrassing Tehran against the background of its conduct vis-à-vis Baku.
Arrest of Iranian agents by Turkish security forces
The members of the abduction squad, which was followed by the Turkish intelligence agency, were instructed by Iranian superiors to offer a $ 10,000 bribe to MA's wife - MA - in order to assist in his abduction.
The Turkish investigation revealed that M.H. had received threats that "your family in Iran will be harmed if you refuse.
Finally, members of the Turkish intelligence agency and the Turkish security forces captured the members of the unit, after they were sent from Iran to Van province by car - so that they could lead MA to Iran.
Around 9pm on September 24, a Turkish citizen, MA, and an Iranian citizen, SS, were captured as soon as they entered the MA apartment building to kidnap him.
As you may recall, this is not the first case in which subversive Iranian activity has been discovered in Turkey.
In February, the 43-year-old employee of the Iranian consulate in Istanbul, Muhammad Reza Nasserzadeh, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling case of the suspect in the murder of former Iranian intelligence man, Massoud Mulawi and Radjani, in the city in 2019.
It was Nasrazadeh who provided the suspect in the assassination plot, Ali Espanjani, with the transfer documents to Iran.
