La Palma - For weeks the volcano on La Palma has been spitting lava and ash incessantly, thousands of people had to flee from the extremely hot lava flow.

Countless houses have already fallen victim to the effects of the active volcano, now it is clear: not all pets could apparently be taken along on the escape.

As the island administration explained on Tuesday, several domestic animals trapped on the volcanic island have been taken care of from the air for days.

Two companies would take care of the supply, using a drone to bring the animals daily food and water.

Among the animals is a white cat, among other things, they were discovered five days ago by a threat with a camera, among other things in an empty water basin.

However, the way to the animals is cut off for the rescue workers by the hot lava and they cannot be reached by land.

It is not yet known whether and if so when the animals could be rescued.

It is also unknown whether the animals could actually be domestic animals or possibly wild animals.

Volcano on La Palma: Hundreds more people have to leave their homes

The volcano has been raging on the island of La Palma since September 19, and since then, according to official information, the lava has destroyed more than 1,000 buildings.

Around 6,000 people had to leave their homes, a return is considered impossible due to the severe lava damage.

Around 800 more people had to leave their homes on Tuesday, and the lava came threateningly close to their homes.

How long the volcano will continue to actively eject lava is still unclear.

Experts fear the outbreak could last weeks or months.
