What happens when a Jaffa bar tries to become an sustainability bar in Hawaii? | Israel today

The "Pick Bar" cocktail bar opens in Kedumim Square, which is being rehabilitated in the city. • The atmosphere is good, the menu is interesting and there is quite a bit of good will. The answers are inside

I arrived at the "Pick" cocktail bar, located in Kedumim Square in Jaffa, with friends at dusk.

Pleasant Latin music was heard in the background, the sunset was perfect lighting and the location was the big bonus - as we sat down at a table overlooking the sea.

The new bar by mixologist Ran Schechter and restaurateur Dor Laniado and brings a unique local concept, cocktails and dishes based on the garden next to the bar, which the two cultivate.

Nature as a leading motif is reflected in additional elements instead of ecological recycling and management.

For example, the glasses on the spot are made from specially designed cans and the hard ones are made from corn starch.

There seemed to be a different, fresh, feel to the place.

The waiters and employees of the place are wearing shirts with tropical prints, the music makes them want to move in the chair and the colors, both of the furniture and of the dishes and dishes, catch the eye.

The colorfulness of the place did not miss the alcohol menu either, which consists of seven cocktails that are all named after colors, and there is no doubt that the colorfulness is intoxicating (did you see what I did here?).

We invited the "Yellow", the "Red" and the "Blue" to the table.

While each cocktail has its own original blend, the diner has the option of choosing the most appropriate base for it.

Whether you fancy gin, vodka or moavat, you can connect any way you want to any cocktail on the menu.

The "Red" is based on watermelon liqueur, hibiscus tea and French raspberry liqueur, the "yellow" based on banana, saffron and blonde beer while the "blue" based on blue flower liqueur, lychee and pineapple, all, as mentioned, are produced from a unique mixture from the garden Adjacent.

There is no doubt that the strong point of the place is the cocktails.

The "red" was to me a little sweet compared to the others, and the "blue" was tasty but a little strong (the difficulty in entrusting you with the choice for the drink base, is also to choose a proper alcoholic base).

But unquestionably the "yellow" was the most successful on the table with a refined and refreshing sweetness, a balanced fruity taste and a precise alcoholic combination, and there was widespread agreement on that.

As hungry, we not only satisfied ourselves with alcohol and also ordered food for the table.

To me the food menu was a bit restrictive in terms of quantity and type of dishes.

It is divided into three parts: salads, sandwiches with a twist and snacks.

We chose a dish from each category, and this is how the salty fruit salad, polka sandwich and chips with Doa seasoning came to the table.

Looking at the dishes it seems that they tried to take the familiar base and upgrade a bit.

The chips do seem harmless at first, and after all - how much can you innovate with chips?

But Doa blend (Egyptian spice blend) gave it an interesting twist to the palate.

The polka sandwich would have looked like another attempt to change the social construction of routine bar dishes, and came in the form of a pair of airy polepert rolls.

The description on the menu was a bit misleading, because at first glance one might think that you would arrive at a dish on a plate and not as a pair of sandwiches, but the concept of lightness is preserved here as well.

The contents of the sandwich were shredded chicken with mayonnaise, herbs, purple onion and caramelized and spicy cashews.

The dish itself came as a mixture, which at first looked like a tuna salad in a sandwich, but in terms of taste was definitely worth every bite.

Next to it came the salty fruit salad consisting of the changing fruits of the season, arugula, sheep cheese and the salty herb, and to me he was the star of the meal.

The combination of ingredients was excellent with a sweet and refreshing connection, and gave a cast between the sweetness and saltiness.

For dessert, a hearty dish was also served, which was light and sealed the meal in a sweet and excellent way.

If you fancy a sumptuous meal this is probably not the place for you, but there is no doubt that the food is delicious, satisfying and the raw ingredients respect the diner and his stomach properly.

When you think of the word "fun" it is exactly the feeling you get when you sit in "Peak".

The atmosphere, the lightness, the young and fresh spirit combine into one experience, which for a moment made me imagine that I was sitting on a promenade in Greece.
