The British Guardian newspaper revealed that workers in the American companies Google and Amazon refused to work on a project that would provide the government of the Israeli occupation entity with electronic technology used against the Palestinians.
The newspaper quoted the workers, whose identity was not revealed for fear of reprisals, as saying: “We cannot support the employer’s decision to provide the Israeli government with technology that is used to harm Palestinians,” referring to the Nimbus project, which aims to provide electronic services to the Israeli occupation entity.
The workers indicated that officials of the two companies signed the Nimbus project to sell dangerous technology to the Israeli entity in the same week that the Israeli forces attacked the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip last May, explaining that the technology that the companies contracted to provide for the benefit of “Israel” will make the systematic discrimination and displacement carried out by the forces. The Israelis are more cruel and deadly to the Palestinians.
The workers said that so far more than 90 Google workers and more than 300 others in Amazon have signed an internal letter rejecting the project and that the two companies are aggressively seeking contracts with institutions such as the US Department of Defense, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and police departments, but these contracts are part of a pattern Worrying about militarization and lack of transparency.
The contract value of the Nimbus project amounts to 1.2 billion dollars and works to provide electronic services to the Israeli occupation forces. This technology allows for more monitoring and illegal data collection on Palestinians and facilitates the expansion of settlements on Palestinian lands.
