Around two thirds of the ecstasy samples tested in Thuringia are dosed above average, and around 30 percent of the speed samples tested are contaminated with crystal meth. The results of the first 69 tests as part of the Thuringian “drug checking” project made “concrete problems in Thuringia visible,” said Felix Blei, head of the Miraculix company, which develops and evaluates test kits, in Erfurt on Thursday.

Erfurt - Sebastian Franke from Addiction Aid in Thuringia (SiT) also called the results worrying.

However, the tests have proven to be an effective approach to minimizing damage.

"Our most important goal is to make young people aware of how to deal with legal and illegal drugs," said Franke.

Many of the users who had their drugs tested would have opted for a lower dose after the results - or refrained from using it altogether.

Potential emergencies could have been prevented in advance.
