The revelation of Eran Zehavi's salary at PSV Eindhoven is on fire.
The Dutch media was quick to respond to reports that the Israeli striker would earn six million euros for the two years in the top team, and the paragon from there onwards.
"It may not be crazy at the international level, but in Dutch terms it's a huge salary," said Eindhoven's former player Bjorn van der Dolen, who added:
Commentator Marco Timmer was sharper: "I knew PSV would break the salary cap, for example with Luke de Jong earning between 2 and 2.5 million euros which is reasonable, but with Zahavi's salary it is already a step up."
Timmer continued: "His numbers (goals) are big in Israel, but at PSV they are reasonable, which is not good enough. If you compare his salary to his performance, you know that PSV could have brought in a slightly better player."
