A shocking case of violence against any elderly person:
The Tel Aviv District Police Prosecution filed an indictment today (Thursday) against a 34-year-old Holon resident, on suspicion of assaulting an elderly person on the street and causing him serious injuries.
Last weekend, the police opened an investigation into the attack on Eliyahu Shalom, a 76-year-old resident of the city.
According to the suspicion, the defendant attacked the elderly man on the street, without any prior acquaintance or motive, and fled the scene leaving him sprawled on the sidewalk without providing assistance. The elderly man was taken to Ichilov Hospital, where he has been hospitalized so far.

From his hospital bed in the hospital's inpatient ward at the hospital, Shalom says he was on his way to his granddaughter's birthday celebrations, and how he was attacked by an unknown young man on the street who pushed him hard to the sidewalk and caused him to break his femur.
He said he was still digesting the violent incident and asked in addressing the public: "This is not something that should happen in our country, we should love each other".
