Heavy damage from an explosive device placed in the house of reporter Hassan Shaalan (Walla system!)
A resident of Baqa al-Gharbiya was arrested this morning (Thursday) on suspicion of violent firearms offenses against journalist Wint Hassan Sha'alan in June.
The man allegedly fired at one incident at Shaalan's house, and at another incident detonated an explosive device that exploded in his new home - before he could live in it.
The suspect is brought to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
Following a series of violent incidents, an undercover investigation began at the National Unit for International Investigations in Blade 433, during which investigative materials accumulated that led this morning to the arrest of a suspect from Baqa al-Gharbiya for the acts of violence described.
The police said: "We take all acts of violence very seriously, especially against media people who do their job. We will not allow a violation of the fundamental foundation of democracy and the legitimate right of freedom of the press."

The bomb blast caused extensive damage to the journalist's home - which he was supposed to move to following his decision to leave his previous home in Taibeh - where he was shot at just two weeks earlier.
Two masked men arrived on a motorcycle in the area of the house around 11:30 PM, jumped over a fence and walked around it for long minutes.
Then they went up to the second floor, whose construction has not yet been completed, put the luggage there and fled.
