The artist and theater director Samer Omran and his journey with the stage that he started since the end of the seventies as an amateur theater were the focus of the fifth session of Madana Theater that was held in the cultural center of Homs

The session organized by the Mada Cultural Project to talk about theater was an opportunity for the lovers of Abi al-Funun in Homs to learn closely about Imran’s experience, his most important theatrical works, the specifics of each of them, and the techniques used in them.

During the session, which was held in the presence of an audience of those interested in cultural and theatrical affairs, Omran spoke about his vision of the relationship of theater in society and how it should be.

According to Omran, the city of Homs has a special significance with regard to theater and the audience’s relationship with theater directors and actors, recalling the “amazing state of interaction” between these parties and the importance of its theater festival, which used to attract playwrights from all over.

The director of the Mada Cultural Project in Homs, Ramiz Al-Hussein, explained that Madana is a theater that hosts prominent playwrights to develop communication between them and the audience, which was affected by the conditions of the war and bridging the gap between the two parties.

The supervisor of the sessions of Madana, the artist’s theater, Hassan Akla, indicated that the project works under a broad title “Theater is a personal experience, a public issue,” where we study with the guest whether his personal experience remained within its personal framework or turned into a general issue with linking the playwrights with the audience.

Akla confirmed that Samer Omran is a distinguished theater artist with rich experiences worthy of research and to be conveyed to the public, especially since his works provide a special vision for depicting human reality.

Among the attendees, the engineer Abeer Ibrahim pointed out that the theater occupied an important position in the lives of peoples, and it reflects the features of society and has a great role in shaping the awareness and thought of the recipient and the men of the theater. It is noteworthy that the artist Samer Omran is a professor at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, in which he held several positions. Participation in acting in television and cinema, including the series “A Crime in Memory” and the movie “I, You, My Mother, and My Father.”
