The AfD member of the state parliament Hagen Kohl failed Thursday in the election for vice-president in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt.
In the secret election, Kohl received 44 yes-votes.
48 MPs voted against Kohl, there were three abstentions.
The AfD parliamentary group then requested a second ballot, the session was interrupted for 30 minutes and should be 17.

The AfD has 23 of 97 members of parliament and was therefore dependent on support from other parliamentary groups.
