The
Ariege Ecological Committee
association
had seized the summary judge to urgently obtain the suspension of this decree of October 1, authorizing hunters to kill ten snow partridges between October 3 and 24. However, "
fixing the number of samples at ten does not guarantee
" that they "will
not compromise the conservation efforts
" of this mountain bird threatened "
in the long term
" with disappearance, writes the judge in his decision rendered on Wednesday. .
He therefore orders the suspension of this decree until the administrative court has ruled on its possible cancellation, also requested by the Ariege ecological committee.
The Prefect of Ariège had asked the court to reject the association's request, stating in particular that “in
view of the low numbers of authorized withdrawals (...) during a very limited period, there is no of risk of disappearance of the species nor of significant decrease in numbers
”.
