Every day, in wind and weather: "Mare" Lorchheim (87) has hosted the Dachauer Nachrichten for 47 years.
And often she was a news source herself.
Machtenstein - During a celebratory breakfast, the Machtenstoaner said goodbye to their loyal newspaper delivery woman “Mare” Marianne Lorchheim.
For health reasons it is over after 47 years - although it has to be said that, at almost 87 years of age, she is still very good on her feet.
Since October 1, 1974, Marianne Lorchheim has distributed the Dachauer Nachrichten and various weekly newspapers.
She marched through snow and ice - the mare ran once around the world.
Not only did she always have the newspapers with her, but all other messages were also sent to the right addressees. “I always said something to everyone,” she says with a laugh, for example the dates for meetings, the rehearsal meal, the coffee party or the rosary. In the past there were no cell phones or e-mails, and so it has always been paperless transmission of messages for all villagers - the environmental concept has therefore existed in Machtenstein for ages, says Anton Hartl, one of the neighbors who was present at the personal farewell.
Marianne Lorchheim comes from Machtenstein.
She was married, but unfortunately her husband Günter has already died.
She has three sons and a daughter who always took care of her mother's vacation when delivering the newspaper.
Marianne Lorchheim was always very enthusiastic about the “porters excursion”, that is, the joint excursion of the Merkur newspaper deliverers.
The "Mare" used to help a lot in the Buchberger Gasthaus, formerly Haas, which her sister ran.
But even at the time, she always delivered the newspaper.
Every day at a quarter to five she got up and started walking.
"There is no koaner in the village - only the oid seller is always on the go", and then they chatted briefly.
"Today in the morning I was wondering what tomorrow's going to be like?"
