Wallgau - The Wallgauer Gebirgsschützen have been celebrating their traditional autumn festival on the Day of German Unity since 1992, and thus on October 3rd.
We were very happy that it could work this year after it had to fail in 2019 due to the weather and could not take place in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.
This year, from 10.30 am, the twelve musicians from local bands performing as “Murnau-Werdenfelser” and from 3 pm the six “Isarwinkler Spitzbuam” provided the necessary musical atmosphere.
Between the village square and the Parkhotel, people partied, ate and drank until the evening hours.
The eleven delicacy stands offered bacon, Vinschgerl, Reiberdatschi, meat and sausages, French fries, scampis, fish rolls, coffee and cake, wine, as well as soda, schnapps and of course the beer from the Mittenwald brewery.
Another hit was the already famous kettle meat served by Matthias Simon and Rudi Hormuth.
A visit to the autumn festival is a must for locals and regular guests from abroad.
For example, for the 18 members of the disbanded Magdalena Neuner fan club who came from southern Germany.
"We are the hard core", said the former vice chairman Stefan Leise from Penzberg, "we always meet a lot of friends here".
Rifle captain Hans Baur was happy about the almost 800 visitors.
“In consultation with the authorities, we were able to meet all currently applicable corona requirements.
A total of 90 members were involved in setting up and dismantling and at the stands.
Seven dashing sutlers made sure that the beer supply did not run out on the day of German reunification and that it gave the guests a real Oktoberfest feeling.
