The Gotzinger drum is one of the most famous historical pieces in the district. It is kept in Miesbach, but it belongs to the Weyarn community. The Gotzinger drum is one of the most famous historical pieces in the district.

It is kept in Miesbach, but it belongs to the Weyarn community.

And she should now claim it back if the mountain rifle company Gotzinger drum has its way.

The reason is the bad chances of getting a museum in the district town.

Miesbach / Weyarn

- The letter that the community of Weyarn sent to the district town of Miesbach a few days ago is quite explosive. In it, Mayor Leonhard Wöhr reports that the mountain rifle company Gotzinger drum turned to him with the request to inquire with Miesbach how things should go on with the historic Gotzinger drum. Because the artifact that was part of the peasant uprising in 1705, which found its way into the history books as the Sendlinger Murder Christmas, belongs to the municipality of Weyarn, but is on permanent loan in the district town's museum fund.

The problem with this: the city still doesn't have a museum, the monastery, which was long intended for this purpose, is currently being converted into a children's house, so there is no possibility of exhibiting the relic, which is steeped in history.

But that is what many members of the Gotzinger drum mountain rifle company wish for, such as its commander Karl Steininger junior.

explains: “The wish is repeatedly expressed that one can see the real drum.

It is still our pride. ”Just to be kept invisible does not do justice to the drum.

The company has a replica of the drum

As Wöhr explains in his letter, the drum was still in use around 60 years ago when the mountain rifle company Gotzinger drum was founded.

In order to protect her, however, she was then handed over to the Heimatmuseum Miesbach, where she was then regularly picked up before moving out.

After some time, the then still independent municipality of Gotzing had a replica of the drum made under its mayor Andreas Bernecker - Wöhr's father-in-law - which was then given to the company.

Since then, the municipality of Gotzing and the municipality of Weyarn, as their later legal successor, have not recalled the original permanent loan from Miesbach.

Bad Tölz, Schliersee or Tegernsee as an alternative?

The fact that people are now thinking about a return is due to the fact that in Miesbach - after the museum in the monastery has failed - there are no specific museum plans in the future either. “There doesn't seem to be any prospect,” explains Wöhr when our newspaper asked. The original could be seen at various state exhibitions, "but the mountain riflemen in particular want the drum they are named after to be seen in the original." The idea now is to transfer the Gotzinger drum to an existing museum give - Bad Tölz, Schliersee and Tegernsee are mentioned - until there is an adequate exhibition opportunity in Miesbach.

Wöhr is now about an exchange with Miesbach on how to proceed in the matter.

His mayor colleague Gerhard Braunmiller did not want to make a statement when asked by our newspaper: "The matter is currently being examined."

Dialogue with Miesbach should show the solution

For Wöhr it is a sensitive topic. On the one hand, he does not want to put pressure on Miesbach in their affairs, which would be a museum, but as Gotzinger himself he understands that the mountain riflemen are committed to ensuring that the drum should be visible. “Even King Ludwig wanted this drum, which has been kept in Miesbach since 1910, but he didn't get it. At that time he is supposed to have said: Then at least take care of it. ”This is apparently still understood today as a request. According to Wöhr and Braunmiller, a mayor's meeting should sound out possible solutions in the near future. This is also in Steininger's sense: “You have to talk to each other. We need a good agreement - at least until there is an exhibition opportunity in Miesbach. In any case, from the point of view of our members it is not satisfactory. "
