Oberstaufen - The bridge construction work on the B 308 between Oberstaufen and Hündle is going well, but several steel workers had to be quarantined.

Mayor Martin Beckel recently inquired about the status of the construction work on the B 308 between Oberstaufen and Hündle.

During a joint inspection, Dr.

Christian Hocke from the State Building Authority Kempten discussed the current problems and the further construction process.

The central point is the so-called “Spider”, the Oberstaufen junction, not far from the “Aquaria” leisure pool.

The bridge itself is completed.

Work is currently underway on the steep slope with a so-called “reinforced earth” and the 2005 state road underpassed.

From the beginning of November, the cycle and pedestrian tours will be relocated under the bridge, explained Dr.

Christian Hocke at the on-site visit.

Quarantine case in the steel mill

Things got “tight” at the bridge over the railway line near Oberstaufen: As a result of several weeks of quarantine in the steelworks, where the steel girders for the bridge are manufactured, all the time buffers in the schedule were used up.

Due to the great efforts of the construction company, however, the lost time could largely be made up.

“Unfortunately, the weather is not playing along at the moment, as the upcoming sealing work on the bridge requires dryness - and every day now hurts.

The emergency walkways will be concreted in the next few weeks, ”continues Hocke.

Everything should be ready before the start of winter

The last concrete work for the bridge over the railway line near Hinterstaufen has now been carried out.

At the same time, earthworks on the bridge abutments are ongoing.

“The work on the three smaller bridges has largely been completed,” says Hocke.

Road construction is also making good progress.

The work on the drainage facilities (rain retention basins, sedimentation shafts, street gullies) is finished.

Paving work is still ongoing.

From October 26th, the asphalt layers are to be paved over the entire length of the construction site of around 2.5 kilometers.

Then banquets, crash barriers and markings have to be made.

“If the weather cooperates, the road can be opened to traffic again at the end of November.

The construction companies and the Kempten State Building Authority did everything in their power to meet this deadline in order to reconnect Oberstaufen to an efficient road network in the direction of Immenstadt before the start of winter, ”Hocke concluded.
