After the pandemic-related failure in 2020, the park of Pillnitz Castle in Dresden is to become the Christmas Garden again this Advent.

The open-air experience will celebrate its comeback from November 18th, as the Berlin-based Concept Veranstaltungs-GmbH announced on Thursday in Dresden.

"We are confident that it will also take place under Corona conditions," said managing director Christian Diekmann.

Dresden - A comprehensive hygiene concept ensures that the respective protective regulations are adhered to.

According to the organizers, the approximately two-kilometer circular route has been redesigned with over two dozen light installations. This includes an oversized carillon made of fairy lights and a ten-meter-long carriage with a horse. The “Majestic Arrival of Countess Cosel” - she was the most famous mistress of the legendary Saxon Baroque prince August the Strong (1670-1733) - is projected onto the Wasserpalais and the Field of Lights has been redesigned.

In 2020, the Christmas light show had to be canceled again at short notice at the end of October due to the corona infection events and lockdowns at the time.

One year late, around one million lights are now to be switched on for the third time every evening, transforming the area in the east of the Elbe city into a Christmas light spectacle - by January 9, 2022. Lighting designer Andreas Boehlke was active there for the first time in 2018, with almost 100,000 visitors - and around 110,000 for the second edition in 2019.
