They pocketed the citizenship income thanks to false documents created ad hoc of entitled persons: over 50 people were thus denounced by the State Police who identified a gang that sent foreigners to the post offices in Milan to pocket, in disguise, the emolument.
The people had Italian citizenship but did not know how to speak Italian to such an extent as to make the branch operators suspicious This is how the Postal Police of Milan started the investigation that led to the denunciation of about fifty people who received their income unduly of citizenship. Foreigners from Romania, Austria and Germany showed up at post offices sent by a sort of network that hired them. The investigation, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office and the Rome Postal and Communications Police Service, began in September 2020 and also led to the arrest of two subjects found in possession of false documents, to the execution of eight searches and the discovery of prepaid cards, receipts presenting theapplication of the citizenship income, as well as the messages that the interested parties exchanged via chat to agree on travel and stay in the territory.
