Fürstenfeldbruck - Compared to autumn 2020, the corona pandemic is still having a negative impact on almost three quarters of the companies in the district.

This is the result of a survey of around 1,500 companies that the Economic Development Department of the District Office carried out in cooperation with the Society for Applied Municipal Research (GEFAK) from June 2020 to July 2021.

Josef Rother from GEFAK presented the results at a press conference, to which business promoter Barbara Magg and employee Nicole Engelhart had invited.

Three surveys

The surveys were carried out a total of three times, in June 2020, October 2020 and July 2021.

After an initially more positive assessment in October of last year, a negative trend was noted again in the summer of 2021.

As expected, the

hotel and restaurant industry were

hardest hit, while

traffic and services

recorded a slight recovery in the course of the pandemic, although logistical bottlenecks and the cancellation of events (events, training courses) were named as the most common negative effects.

Companies have adapted

In contrast to the first two surveys, the third survey carried out in the summer showed that negative phenomena such as the absence and absence of employees, customers and orders were not as weighted as companies feared last autumn.

"This suggests that the companies are adopting appropriate strategies," said Rother.

"Above all, the increased use of

home office

and digital meetings played a major role." The importance of home office will probably continue to play an important role in working life even after the pandemic.

Fears not always come true

Three quarters of the companies feared a drop in sales in the summer of 2020. But the third survey this summer showed that fortunately the fears did not come true. Nevertheless, 60 percent of the companies surveyed

suffered

sales losses

, which fortunately did not result in job losses to the same extent. Nevertheless,

layoffs were

inevitable

for every fifth company

. Here, the playing

Kurzarbeitergeld

an important role. Around 40 percent of the companies had

applied for

short-time work

. Around 20 percent of the workforce were affected.

The number of applications for

government aid fell

only insignificantly from 40 to 37 percent within a year.

In 2020, nine percent of the companies were dissatisfied with the state aid, in the summer of 2021 dissatisfaction rose to over 24 percent.

Personal aquise and stabilization becomes important

As the biggest challenges in the next six months to overcome the crisis, the companies named the

stabilization of their company first,

then the

acquisition of

personnel

and the expansion of the operating facilities.

The corona pandemic has also changed the

location

requirements

for every eighth company

.

The focus was even more on the

internet connection

, but also on changed space requirements and the

public transport offer

.

Help with bureaucracy wanted

The companies would like help in reducing bureaucracy and help in

recruiting skilled workers from the business development agency

.

As a first reaction to the survey, the district office has initiated a company database, which has met with great interest from companies, as has the economic development newsletter.

The online database is intended to promote better knowledge of the companies in the district in order to intensify regional interdependencies and to minimize unnecessary dependencies on distant suppliers.
