Health authorities in New Zealand today (Thursday) reported a peak in coronary heart disease and the highest figure in the country, following a sharp rise in the number of new cases in the largest city in the state of Auckland.
1.7 million people are in a strict closure in the city, which according to health authorities is meant to stop the spread of the corona virus delta variant in the country, after it started erupting in New Zealand about two months ago.
Grant Robertson, Deputy Prime Minister Jacinda Arden's, said the increase in the number of corona cases in the city of Auckland is not unexpected, but is exacerbated "significantly" by illegal gatherings that have become common in the country following the imposition of stricter population closures.

It is important to note that despite the peak in morbidity, corona data in the country are significantly lower than in other countries that have suffered an outbreak in their territory.
In the past day, 71 new cases of Corona have been recorded in New Zealand, after the previous day the number of new cases was 55.
"Today's corona data is a sobering, but not unexpected, experience due to where we are in epidemic progress and the rate of vaccinators," Caroline McAllney, New Zealand's director of health services, told local media.
2.49 million of New Zealand’s citizens, who make up 59 per cent of the total target population, have been vaccinated against the corona virus, a rate significantly lower than in other Western countries.
The state health authorities have pledged to remove the closures and restrictions when they reach a general vaccination of 90 percent of the target population.
New Zealand has recorded 4,472 cases of corona since the plague broke out in 2019, and only 28 deaths as a result of corona disease.
