Kiel - Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) visited the naval school in Flensburg-Mürwik on Thursday. The minister wanted to find out about the training of cadets in the Navy. The commander of the naval school, Flotilla Admiral Jens Nemeyer (58), welcomed Kramp-Karrenbauer on Thursday in the "Red Castle by the Sea", as the naval school is called. The politician wanted to get a personal impression of the practical training of the officer candidates and also to talk to soldiers.
The program included stations at the ship handling simulator, which was modernized in 2018, and pre-sailing training on the school's training mast.
There the future cadets of the sailing training ship “Gorch Fock” learn how to stay in the rigging on land.
In the afternoon, Kramp-Karrenbauer also wanted to speak to the officer candidates and the permanent staff of the naval school.
