The medical and safety technology group Drägerwerk is sticking to its forecast for the year despite a weak quarter.

The company announced on Thursday evening that sales in the third quarter of the year fell by 11.8 percent after adjusting for currency effects to EUR 770 million.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) fell by almost two thirds to 48 million euros.

Lübeck - The reason for this is the lower sales in connection with the corona pandemic and the lower gross margin of around 46.9 percent (previous year: 48.2).

At the same time, higher functional costs would have burdened the result.

Incoming orders were reportedly in the third quarter at 760 million euros.

The risk in the supply chain has increased due to material shortages in electronic components.

For 2021, Drägerwerk continues to expect a currency-adjusted decline in sales of between two and six percent and an EBIT margin of between eight and eleven percent.

It is assumed that the pandemic-related demand will normalize and do not expect a comparable demand in 2022.
