Do the lollipop pool tests come to the day-care centers?

The day care team of the youth welfare office is currently asking all daycare centers in the district whether they are interested.

"We expect the feedback in the coming week," says Sophie-Marie Stadler, spokeswoman for the district office.

District - As reported, the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs has created a funding program that empowers districts and urban districts to introduce these PCR tests at day-care centers.

The districts can delegate responsibility to local authorities or providers, "but that makes no sense in our small-scale district with sometimes very small daycare centers," says Stadler.

If the majority of the daycare centers give the go-ahead, the district office wants to start implementing the tests immediately - although deadlines under public procurement law must be adhered to.

If only individual providers of childcare facilities are interested in the offer, an introduction makes no sense, says Stadler.

Relevant questions still unanswered

Whether the carriers are in favor of introducing the tests depends not least on what consequences they have for potential quarantine orders. But this aspect of all things has not yet been answered by the ministerial side, according to Stadler. In the primary schools, where the pool tests have been running for three weeks, only those schoolmates who have had potentially infectious contact, for example bank neighbors, have to be quarantined in the event of a positive result. And not necessarily the whole class. In contrast, entire groups in day-care centers currently have to be quarantined if there is a positive case, as it is assumed that toddlers and kindergarten children cannot yet adhere to hygiene measures. "Does a positive lollipop test meanthat all children in the group must continue to be quarantined? How should the health department delineate close contact persons? Are there new quarantine rules or advantages for children who can be tested regularly? ", Stadler lists the open questions.

Worry about more quarantine orders

These are not only relevant for the district office, but also for porters and parents.

Some parents are also concerned that regular tests of all children will reveal more infections than the occasional tests that are currently taking place - and that more quarantines could therefore be imposed.

According to the district office, it is also not yet known in what form the pool tests will be carried out.

It can be assumed, however, that the implementation will take place in the same way as the schools.

As reported, the children there suck two swabs twice a week.

A laboratory then evaluates all of the samples, i.e. a pool.

In the evening, parents and school will find out the result.

If there is evidence of an infection, the second samples from the children are analyzed one by one overnight in order to find those affected.
