State Environment Minister Thekla Walker has called for nationwide solar compulsory based on the Baden-Württemberg model. "Solar energy must again become the driving force for the energy transition and climate protection," said the Green politician on Thursday in Stuttgart on the occasion of the solar industry day. They hope that the new federal government will include an obligation for photovoltaic systems on new buildings in the coalition agreement.

Stuttgart - In the southwest, this solar obligation has already been decided: From January 1, 2022, a solar system must be installed on non-residential buildings and parking spaces with 35 or more parking spaces.

From May 1st, house builders will also have to have such a system built on the roof.

From 2023, the solar requirement will also apply to fundamental roof renovations.

The new climate protection law was passed in the state parliament last week.
