The IDF Civil Administration officer today (Thursday) filed a complaint with the Benjamin police against the settler who attacked two IDF soldiers in the Adi settlement using pepper spray, officials in the Central Command said. At the same time, at the end of a weekly situation assessment, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said that action must be taken "systematically, firmly and without compromise" in the face of all nationalist crime in Judea and Samaria.

The Defense Minister condemned the recent cases of injury to IDF soldiers and Border Police officers, and said that immediate and focused action should be taken to eradicate the phenomenon. As part of the assessment of the situation, the Minister of Defense was presented with the increased preparedness on the ground, and the combined actions taken. However, according to sources in the Central Command, to eradicate the phenomenon requires enforcement and punishment, and condemnations in the media should not be satisfied.

According to the sources, the video documentation of the injury to the soldiers shows who the suspect in the incident is, "and if there is motivation for the police, they can arrest him."

They also stressed that this is not an isolated case, and that in recent months there have been additional cases of verbal and physical violence by Israeli civilians against IDF soldiers and border fighters in Judea and Samaria.
