FSV Mainz 05 has extended the contract with sports director Christian Heidel beyond the previous end on June 30, 2022.
The Bundesliga club announced this on Thursday.
The Rheinhessen did not provide any information about the term of the contract.
“Christian Heidel embodies something like the original gene of Mainz 05. He has shaped the club in its entire development and is currently leading it back to sporting stability.

Heidel joined what was then the second division in 1992 as a manager.
The 58-year-old also hired today's starting coaches Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool FC) and Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea FC) and turned the Mainz team into a seasoned first division team.
In 2016, Heidel moved to FC Schalke 04 as sports director, but where he was not so successful and his contract was terminated in 2019.
In December 2020 he returned to the FSV as Director of Strategy, Sport and Communication.

Bayern Munich's CEO Oliver Kahn has announced that national player Leon Goretzka will soon be able to extend his contract.
