Today, the Jasmine House of the Mar Asia Al-Hakim Association held an activity entitled “Circle of Life” on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund.
A group of girls between 15 and 19 years from the city's regions, especially those residing in temporary residence centers, participated in the activity, which was held in the Syriac-Catholic Archbishop Krum Hall in the city of Hasaka.
The director of the safe space in Jasmine's house, Mireille Safar, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the activity is to raise awareness for a group of girls by focusing on three main axes, which are “reality, victory and dream.” Some girls’ experiences, their reality, and the difficulties they face in life will be discussed, and a set of awareness instructions will be provided to the girl. To protect her from all that threatens her during this age period, such as harassment, early forced marriage and depriving her of inheritance.
For her part, the psychological consultant in the House of Jasmine, Dr. Ibtisam Moussalli, indicated that the activity aims to provide a set of instructions and advice for teenage girls and study some special cases by presenting their experiences in the current reality and what their aspirations and dreams are in the future, especially since there are many issues facing girls During this age period, they must be made aware of their full rights and empowered to be able to protect themselves and confront anyone who tries to deprive them of their rights or exploit them.
The International Day of the Girl Child, which was endorsed by the United Nations, falls on the eleventh of October.
