Regional caterers and the German Red Cross (DRK) are still providing around 1,800 people a day with a warm meal three months after the flood disaster in the Ahr valley.

The preparation of the meal was done by two companies from Mendig and Niederzissen, reported DRK spokeswoman Elisabeth Geurts.

The food distribution will probably still be available by the end of October.

Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler - The caterers would bring the cooked food to the parking lot of a school in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.

From there, more than 30 DRK helpers will bring it to ten locations and distribute it.

Until about mid-September, the DRK had cooked several thousand lunches a day in a central kitchen in Grafschaft and served them at around 40 locations.

At peak times it was 10,000 to 13,000 warm servings per day.

Cold food was also given out for breakfast and dinner each day for the same number of people.
