Citizens' resistance to building on the football field at the Waldsee is growing. Support is now being sought online.

Citizens' resistance to building on the football field at the Waldsee is growing.

Support is now being sought online.

Gernlinden - After the initiators of a signature collection met with Maisach's mayor Hans Seidl (CSU) last week and handed him a list with around 200 signatures, an online petition is now also running.

But the town hall has already reacted: A public information event is planned for November 24th.

Town hall chief Seidl and opponents of the development exchanged ideas for about an hour.

Afterwards, Gerhard Forster, the initiator of the collection of signatures, emphasized once again that there was nothing against building a new hall - the needs of the TSV were obvious.

But they want to know how to preserve the football field or the recreational area at the Waldsee.

In the conversation, according to Forster, it was also about sealing and surface erosion, as well as noise and traffic, which the residents fear, if a gym should be built there.

Gernlinden football field: the property belongs to the municipality

Seidl also repeated his arguments: A hall there would have to be built for the association and the community because the area belongs to the community.

If you had to buy an area for the project first, the thing would probably not be financially feasible.

Forster, on the other hand, argues: "With this justification that the property is owned by the municipality, everything can be built on." The mayor and the local council are asked to look for another location.

Gernlinden football field: 201 signatures against the project

201 signatures from 107 households were handed over to the town hall chief.

Forster emphasizes that these are by no means just direct residents.

There is resistance from all over Gernlinden Nord.

Forster's conclusion: "Obviously, the preservation of the recreation area is important to many of our fellow citizens."

Mayor Seidl told Forster and his colleagues present at the handover that he would pass the signature list on to the municipal council members.

After the meeting, he added to the Maisacher Facebook group that “a location has not yet been discussed or decided in the local council.

The soccer field is a possibility and nothing more. ”He asked for an objective and constructive discussion.

In addition, Seidl announced that the community wants to inform the citizens at an event on Wednesday, November 24th, in the Gernlindener Bürgerzentrum.

Until then, signatures will continue to be collected.

In the meantime, Forster's son has started a request for the preservation of the football field at www.openpetition.de (keyword Gernlinden).
