Russian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed in a phone call today the need to restore the nuclear agreement in its original, balanced form.
"During the call, they talked about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program and emphasized that restoring the nuclear agreement in its original, balanced form is the only correct way to guarantee the rights and interests of all parties concerned," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, Sputnik reported.
In addition, the Iranian Fars news agency reported that the Russian Foreign Minister praised, during the phone call, the rational position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the return of all parties to their obligations.
For his part, Abdullahian indicated that the talks that took place today in Tehran between Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri and European Union Foreign Minister Enrique Mora were positive and focused on finding practical solutions to raise the current problems and outstanding issues in the Vienna talks, which are due to Washington's position and its far from approach. The Iranian Foreign Ministry's assistant for political affairs, Ali Bagheri, confirmed during talks with Mora today that there are serious doubts about America's real will to abide by its commitments regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran, criticizing the European parties' failure to implement their commitments within the framework of this agreement.
