The co-chair of the Left Party, Susanne Hennig-Wellsow, welcomed the developments in government formation in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
"The second very good political decision this week - to successfully negotiate the goal of r2g in Berlin," wrote Hennig-Wellsow, who leads the party together with Janine Wissler, on Thursday on Twitter.
Berlin - The designated governing mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey (SPD), had previously announced that she wanted to enter the next phase of explorations with the Greens and the Left for a possible new edition of the previous government alliance in the capital.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, election winner and Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced coalition negotiations with the left on Wednesday to form a joint government.
So far Schwesig ruled with the CDU.
After the heavy losses in the Bundestag election, the left will probably be able to improve its position at least at the state level.
In the Bundestag election, it had slipped from 9.2 to 4.9 percent and only because of three direct mandates was it again entered parliament with parliamentary groups.
